Military Mountain School

Historical overview

The idea of a Military Mountain School in the Argentinean Army came up at the beginning of the last century owing to the necessity of having a Unit with the capability of centralising, developing and teaching the different tactical and technical skills required for the survival, movement and combat in this particular environment for the Officers and enlisted men of this branch. The Mountain School has an immediate antecedent: the creation in 1923 of the North and Cuyo Mountain Detachments located in the provinces of Salta and Mendoza, respectively.
